How is China modifying its Communist government to adapt to the changes of the world and the global economy? Why is the US-China foreign relations so critical to world peace, that President Bush would include "China as an importantant ally in the War on Terrorism". The country is rapidly building its capitalist industrial infastructure.
The country is changing so rapidly that no one can predict the outcome.
Taiwan is now so closely tied to china economically and culturally that the idea of independence seems imposible. -

All under Heaven
as in... if the U.S. collapsed and China stepped up... I think it would aspire to global domination. NOT just for control of resources, but rather to implement one national language, one religeon, one way of life; for ALL under heaven.
I know people in other countries who aspire to the same dream, though they would rather be dead than be forced to learn chinese- and it may come to that.
Personaly, I am trying to work with people to create a viable antithesis to 'All Under Heaven'.
I would prefer a world of bio and cultural diversity, where each city had an identity of its own and where people communicated freely in tounges that they choose for themselves.
The problem with my way: trade and travel becomes more complicated when you have a lable in 157 languages.
The solution?
